This policy explains what data Snowmate collects, how it's used, and your choices.
The Short Version
Snowmate stores your skiing and snowboarding data on your device and syncs it through your personal iCloud account. We don't collect, access, or sell your personal data.
What Data Snowmate Collects
When you use Snowmate, the app records:
This data is stored locally on your device and, if you have iCloud enabled, synced to your other devices through your personal iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit service.
What We Don't Collect
We don't operate servers that store your personal data. We don't have access to your skiing tracks, photos, or session history. We don't collect your name, email, or contact information (unless you contact us directly). We don't use analytics services that track your behavior. We don't sell or share data with third parties because we don't have it.
iCloud Sync
If you use iCloud, your Snowmate data syncs across your devices through Apple's CloudKit. This data is governed by Apple's privacy policy and your iCloud account settings.
Location and Motion Data
Snowmate requires location access to record your sessions, including GPS coordinates, speed, and elevation. The app also uses your device's motion sensors (via Core Motion) to detect activity and improve tracking accuracy. This data is stored only in your session records - it's not transmitted anywhere except through your own iCloud sync. You can revoke location and motion permissions at any time in Settings, though the app won't be able to track sessions without them.
Subscriptions
Subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We don't receive or store your payment information. We may receive anonymized transaction confirmations from Apple to verify subscription status.
Photos
When you add photos to a session, Snowmate stores a copy of the image data within the app. These photos sync through iCloud along with your other session data.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy occasionally. The "last updated" date at the top will reflect changes.
